About
The goal of schlunix.org is to post helpful hints and things I have learned throughout my endeavors in Unix/Linux. The main purpose of these are to help myself when I reload my system and have to reconfigure everything from scratch. Hopefully the things I have learned will help others.
Most of what I have learned has been from other websites or forums. I will do my best to paraphrase the information from the other sites to make it as clear and concise as possible while trying to always cite the source so anyone can go back and read the source in its entirety.
I love the entire open source community and everything it stands for. I am proud to be part of it and routinely encourage others to give it a try, sometimes successfully. I even started growing my very own Linux beard.
Shameless plug for the hosting company I use*:
This site is hosted on Dreamhost. The plan started with 500GB of space and 5TB monthly transfer when I signed up, and both of those grow every month. So I should have enough space and bandwidth for… well… forever. If this sounds good to you, go to Dreamhost and use the promo code “SCHLUNIX” and you will get an extra 20% monthly bandwidth.
*Seriously though, Dreamhost is great. They have very knowledgeable and courteous reps, a great web interface, and even shell access :)
